What Is Siemens Power Module?

What is Siemens Power Module?

When designing the power subsystem, considering the driving factors such as time to market, size constraints, reliability and design capacity, more and more designers use siemens electronics module to replace the traditional discrete pol design.

The power support system of communication and computing infrastructure needs to bear the high current load of FPGA, ASIC and microprocessor with soaring power consumption.

Equipment manufacturers usually rely on complex discrete power solutions. In order to power these high current circuits, they occupy a huge space and are limited by the output power.

The buck regulator converts power from the distributed power bus to each load point (POL) in the infrastructure system. The buck converter converts the voltage from a higher input voltage to a lower output voltage, and converts the voltage source (5V to 25V or higher) to a lower regulated voltage (0.5V to 5V). The current infrastructure system may use 20-40 load point (step-down) converters in one system, and each converter has to cope with different output voltage and output current requirements.

In this paper, we will introduce the advantages of using integrated siemens sinamics motor drive module.

What Is Siemens Power Module

Using the power module

Cost, design work and performance are the points that system designers need to weigh when selecting Siemens digital output modules. For systems with 1-5 power rails, the use of discrete regulators can save costs and lead time to market. However, with the increase of the number of power rails and rated current, the design of power subsystem becomes complex. In this case, siemens safety module solutions will come in handy.

Designers also need to consider the cost of ownership of discrete designs. The cost of ownership refers to the bill of materials (BOM) cost and the time spent by the power designer in designing and testing the design, as well as additional costs such as potential redesign changes, manufacturing and assembly costs.

How Siemens expansion modules integrate discrete design modules. Siemens encoder module encapsulates PWM controller, power MOSFET, inductor and compensation network. What designers need to do is to select input and output capacitors.
