When the fanuc servo motor is broken, there is no idea what to do for most people. In fact, we can use a meter or a megohmmeter to troubleshoot FANUC motor circuits. Next, I will show you how to test for short circuits in windings, cables, or open circuits. First of all we need to make preparations, make sure that all power is connected to the machine, and then disconnect the three-phase motor wire from the drive end. Before starting the test, be sure to visually check and confirm that there is no problem with the cable.
How to test for short to ground:
By using an ohmmeter
Firstly, we need turn off all power supplies and amplifiers from the machine. Secondly, we should check carefully all three wires (all three phases) at T1, T2 and T3 to ground. The correct reading it shows should be infinite. However, there is a problem with the fanuc linear motor or cable when you find the reading is zero or there is any continuity in the reading. Therefore, in order to better distinguish and judge, we need to turn off the cables and check separately. What’s more, it is worth noting that the leads at both ends do not touch anything, including other leads. Most fanuc servo drive short-circuit conditions can be tested with a conventional mass meter exceeding 10 megohms.
By using an megohmmeter
1. Before measurement, the power supply of the fanuc spindle motor under test must be cut off and short-circuited to ground. Never let the equipment live for measurement to ensure the safety of people and equipment.
2. The surface of the measured object fanuc spindle should be clean to reduce the contact resistance to ensure the accuracy of the measurement result.
3. Before measurement, the megohmmeter should be subjected to an open circuit and short circuit test to check whether the megohmmeter is in good condition.
4. When using the megohmmeter, it should be placed in a stable and firm place, and far away from large external current conductors and external magnetic fields.
5. Must be wired correctly. There are generally three terminals on the megohmmeter. When measuring the insulation resistance of the motor fanuc, generally only the "L" and "E" terminals are used. After the line is connected, you can turn the crank in a clockwise direction. The shaking speed should be from slow to fast. When the speed reaches about 120 revolutions per minute, keep rotating at a constant speed, and take a reading after 1 minute. And we should check readings while shaking, can not stop reading.
6. Place the megohmmeter in a horizontal position during panning, and there must be no short-circuit between the end buttons when the handle is turned. The shaking speed of the handle should be from slow to fast. If it is found that the pointer is pointing to zero, it means that the insulation under test may have a short circuit. At this time, you cannot continue to shake the handle to prevent heating and damage to the coil in the watch.
7. After the reading is completed, discharge the fanuc ac servo motor under test.
