How to Maintain Electric Motors?

Electric motor product is one of the indispensable equipment in production and manufacturing industry. In order to ensure the normal operation of the electric motor equipment, in addition to the normal use according to the operating procedures and the normal monitoring and maintenance during operation, regular inspections and maintenance should also be carried out. Today we will take you understand how to maintain electric motor parts.

The significance of the daily maintenance of the motor

Whether the mechanical equipment can work normally, a very important part is whether the electric motor component can work normally. But many people do not pay attention to the daily maintenance or they don’t know how to maintain it. When the electric motor device has the problem, the motor can only be repaired. It will not only cost money, but also delay work. Therefore, the electric motor maintenance is very important.

How to Maintain Electric Motors

Daily inspection and maintenance of the motor

1. Look: Look at the size and change of the motor working current every day, and see if there is any water leakage or dripping around, which will cause the normal electric motor to burn out due to low insulation breakdown. Observe whether there are any objects on the periphery of the motor that will affect its ventilation and heat dissipation environment. If the fan cover and blades, and the outside of the motor are dirty and need to be cleaned in order to ensure its cooling effect. When you find the problem, you should deal with promptly.

2. Listen: carefully listen to whether the motor running sound is abnormal. Since the machine room is noisy, you can use auxiliary tools such as a screwdriver or a listening stick to listen close to both ends of the motor. If you listen frequently, you can not only find the motor and its drag equipment. Even the amount of internal bearing oil can be judged, so that corresponding measures such as adding bearing oil or replacing new bearings etc. can be taken in time to prevent the bearing from stalling, going outside the circle, or burning out the bore due to lack of oil and dry grinding.

3. Touch: probe the temperature around the motor with the back of your hand. When the electric motor bearing is in good condition, the temperature at both ends will generally be lower than the temperature of the middle winding section. If the temperature of the bearings of both ends is high, check the bearings based on the measured sound of the bearings. If the overall temperature of the motor is too high, it is necessary to check the load, equipment and ventilation of the motor in conjunction with the operating current and deal with it accordingly.

4. Test: When the motor stops running, it is necessary to measure the insulation resistance of each phase to ground or phase to phase with the insulation meter regularly, and compare it with the test results of the previous month, so as to find insulation defects in time.
