The X20AI4622 is a compact analog input slice for the B&R X20 I/O system, providing four individually configurable analog input channels for flexible measurement of process signals. Each channel can be wired either as a voltage input ±10 V or as a current input 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA through different terminal connections, allowing one module to handle both common analog standards. Inputs are implemented as differential inputs, improving noise immunity and common‑mode rejection in electrically noisy environments.
The module uses a 13‑bit A/D converter (including sign), with effective resolution of ±12‑bit for voltage and 12‑bit for current, giving a step size of 2.441 mV for voltage and 4.883 µA for current per LSB. Conversion time is 400 µs for all inputs, so all four channels are updated within each 400 µs cycle, and a 3rd‑order low‑pass input filter with 1 kHz cutoff can be configured to smooth noisy signals. Typical nonlinearity is specified as <0.025% for voltage and <0.05% for current, with temperature coefficients on the order of 0.004–0.005%/°C, supporting accurate measurement across industrial temperature ranges.
For voltage mode, the input impedance is 20 MΩ, with a permitted input range up to ±30 V, while for current mode the load is <400 Ω and the permitted current is up to ±50 mA; the module includes protection against wiring to the supply voltage. Analog values are output to the controller as INT values (−32768…32767 for ±10 V, 0…32767 for 0–20 mA), and configurable lower/upper limit values clamp the measured signal and set status bits when thresholds are exceeded. Diagnostic features include per‑channel status LEDs and software diagnostics for module run/error, input errors and configuration errors.
Electrically, the X20AI4622 provides 500 Veff isolation between channels and the X20 bus, while channels themselves are not isolated from each other, and the module occupies one analog logical slot on CAN‑I/O. It is rated IP20 and can be mounted horizontally or vertically at elevations up to 2000 m without derating; above 2000 m the allowed ambient temperature is reduced by 0.5 °C per 100 m. Typical certifications include cCSAus HazLoc Class I Division 2, ATEX Zone 2, KC, GL and GOST‑R, making it suitable for global and hazardous‑location applications when used according to documentation.
Installation requires one X20TB12 terminal block and one X20BM11 bus module (24 V DC keyed, internal I/O supply) ordered separately, as with other X20 slice modules. Typical applications include pressure, flow, level and temperature transmitters, as well as general analog measurement tasks in process and factory automation where 4–20 mA loops and ±10 V signals must be brought into a B&R X20‑based control system.
