There are usually multiple key grooves on the motor shaft. The keyway located in the laminated area of the rotor punching piece of the rotating shaft is used for fixing the punching piece of the armature. Its purpose is to prevent the rotor blades from rotating when the rotor rotates. Usually there are key grooves on the shaft extension and non-shaft extension ends of the rotating shaft. The keyway at the shaft extension is used to link with the load of the fanuc motor machine. The keyway of the non-shaft extension end is usually the matching key of the fan blade, or some are used for the matching of the resolver.
First, carefully observe the end of the shaft. If you can clearly see the hole at the end of the coupling, you can make different judgments according to different situations. If you see a hole at the most central end, it may be a smooth shaft. If the shaft has three holes in a line, it means you have a keyed shaft.
If you are inconvenient to check the status of the axis, there is actually an easier way, that is, to read the label information on the fanuc servo directly. There may be two types of labels on the fanuc spindle motor, one is a yellow FANUC sticker and the other is a silver G.E.fanuc sticker. Usually the yellow FANUC sticker is easier to distinguish, because you mainly check whether the part number on the label has a # tag at the end. If there is, it is a keyed shaft. Otherwise, it means that it is a smooth shaft.
