How to Maintain your FANUC Servo Motor?

FANUC servo motors are more and more widely used. Although the quality is getting better and better, if you don't pay attention to maintenance in daily use, no matter how good the product is, it is easy to damage. So how should the fanuc servo drive be maintained?

How to Maintain your FANUC Servo Motor

The maintenance of FANUC servo motor

1. Although the Fanuc spindle motor has a high level of protection, it can be used in dusty, damp or oily places, but it does not mean that you can immerse it in water to work. So we should try to put it in a relatively clean environment.

2. If the Fanuc motor machine is connected to a reduction gear, the oil seal should be added when using the servo motor. This prevents oil from the reduction gear from entering the servo motor.

3. Regularly check the Fanuc mechatronics to ensure that there is no fatal damage to the outside.

4. Regularly check the fixed parts of the Fanuc series motors to ensure that the connection is firm.

5. Regularly check the output shaft of the servo motor to ensure smooth rotation.

6. Regularly check the Fanuc encoder connection line of the servo motor and the power connector of the servo motor to confirm that the connection is firm.

7. Regularly check whether the fanuc spindle motor fan is running normally.

8. Clean up the dust and oil on the servo motor in time to ensure that the servo motor is in a normal state.

The protective measures for servo motor cables

1. Ensure that the cable is not subjected to moment or vertical load due to external bending force or its own weight, especially at the cable outlet or connection.

2. When the servo motor is moving, the cable should be firmly fixed to a stationary part (relative to the motor). What's more, it should be extended with an additional cable installed in the cable support, so that the bending stress can be minimized.

3. The elbow radius of the cable should be as large as possible.

4. Do not immerse the cable of the servo motor in oil or water.

Determine the allowable shaft end load of the Fanuc servo motor

1. Ensure that the radial and axial loads added to the Fanuc ac spindle motor shaft during installation and operation are controlled within the specified values of each model.

2. Be extra careful when installing a rigid coupling, especially excessive bending load may cause damage or wear to the shaft end and bearing.

3. It is better to use a flexible coupling so that the radial load is lower than the allowable value. This is specially designed for servo motors with high mechanical strength.

4. For the allowable shaft load, please refer to the instruction manual.

The precautions for installation of servo motor

1. When installing/removing the coupling part to the shaft end of the servo motor, do not directly hit the shaft end with a hammer. If the hammer hits the shaft end directly, the fanuc servo motor encoder at the other end of the servo motor shaft will be damaged.

2. Make every effort to align the shaft end to the best condition, otherwise it may cause vibration or damage to the bearing.
