Product Description

The Omron D4GL-4GDG-A4 is part of the D4GL guard lock safety-door switch series, designed to provide door position detection and mechanical locking for safety guards on industrial machinery. It uses an electromagnetic lock/unlock mechanism and a separate operation key (sold separately) so that the door can only be opened when the machine is in a safe state, helping to protect operators from hazardous motion. With a minimum key holding force of 1,000 N and direct opening contacts, the switch offers robust mechanical integrity and reliable safety performance in demanding environments.

This model provides a 4-contact configuration (3NC + 1NC/1NO type depending on variant) to support safety circuits and lock monitoring at the same time. Contacts are suitable for both standard loads (such as 1 A at 125 VAC) and microloads down to 4 mA at 24 VDC, making the D4GL-4GDG-A4 flexible for direct connection to safety relays, safety controllers, or PLC inputs. The switch achieves IP67 protection (body) for dust-tight and waterproof performance, although the key entry opening itself is IP00, so it must be installed with appropriate guarding.

According to Omron’s datasheet, typical characteristics include an operating speed range of 0.05 to 0.5 m/s, a maximum operating frequency of 30 operations per minute, and a mechanical life of more than 1,000,000 operations. Electrical life is more than 500,000 operations at DC 24 V 4 mA and more than 150,000 operations at 125 VAC 1 A (two circuits) or 24 VDC 4 mA (two circuits), under resistive load conditions. The rated insulation voltage is 300 V, with a rated thermal current of 2.5 A, and dielectric strength up to 4 kV between different terminals and non-live metal parts, matching EN 60947-5-1 requirements. The switch is environment-friendly, designed without harmful substances such as lead and cadmium.

The D4GL-4GDG-A4 features a slim body suitable for vertical mounting in tight spaces, with selectable key insertion directions depending on the chosen operation key. Vibration and shock resistance are high, with vibration endurance of 10–55 Hz at 0.75 mm amplitude and shock endurance of 1,000 m/s² for destruction and 300 m/s² for malfunction tests. It operates in ambient temperatures from −10 to +55 °C (non-freezing) and up to 95% RH, suitable for most factory environments. Overall, the D4GL-4GDG-A4 is well suited for use on safety doors, guards, and covers in packaging machines, machine tools, material handling systems, and other industrial equipment where interlocking and door monitoring are required.
