The Beckhoff EK1818 is an integrated digital volume I/O EtherCAT coupler designed to connect the EtherCAT Fieldbus protocol with the EtherCAT terminal module to provide reliable control and monitoring functions for industrial automation systems. The EK1818 not only has efficient data transmission capabilities, but also flexible scalability and stable performance for small number of I/O applications in a variety of industrial environments.


The coupler features a compact design with dimensions of 44mm x 100mm x 67mm, a polycarbonate housing with a high-density terminal module housing and an LED signal indicator for easy condition monitoring. It is fastened to the 35mm DIN rail with a latch, according to EN 60715, for easy installation and clean wiring.


The EK1818 has two RJ45 interfaces, one for connecting the coupler to the network and the other for connecting other EtherCAT devices in the same network segment. The coupler also integrates eight digital input and four digital output channels to meet a variety of control and monitoring needs. The number of digital input and output channels can meet the needs of a variety of industrial applications, providing users with more flexibility and choice.


In terms of electrical isolation, the EK1818 provides 500V electrical isolation, ensuring the stability and security of data transmission. At the same time, the coupler operating temperature range of -25°C to +60°C, relative humidity adaptability of 95%, non-condensation, can adapt to a variety of harsh industrial environmental conditions.


The EK1818 also has high performance data transmission capability, with a data transmission rate of 100 Mbit/s and a delay of about 1 microsecond, ensuring real-time and accuracy of data transmission. Up to 65,534 EtherCAT terminal modules can be connected throughout the system, supporting flexible system expansion and customization to meet the needs of different industrial applications.


In terms of power supply, the EK1818 provides a rated voltage of 24V DC, which can provide a maximum power supply capacity of 5V/1A, while supporting a maximum power contact current load of 10A, ensuring the stability and reliability of the system.
