The 1734-OE2C is a POINT I/O analog current output module designed by Rockwell Automation for distributed I/O architectures on networks such as EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, and DeviceNet using POINT I/O adapters. It provides two single-ended, non-isolated current output channels that can each be configured for 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA operation, with 4–20 mA as the default mode. Each channel converts a digital code into an analog current output, using a 13‑bit DAC with 2.5 µA/count nominal resolution over 0–21 mA, giving fine control of actuators and field instruments.
The module achieves 0.1% full-scale absolute accuracy at 25 °C, with temperature drift of about 30 ppm/°C, a 16 µs conversion rate, and 24 µs step response to 63% of full scale, making it suitable for fast and precise control loops. Default scaling points are 1638 counts at 4 mA and 8191 counts at 20 mA, and each channel’s scaling can be individually configured in the PLC program. The 1734-OE2C operates from a 24 VDC external field supply (10–28.8 VDC) and draws approximately 70 mA at 24 VDC plus 75 mA from the 5 VDC POINTBus.
The module supports a resistive load range of 0–750 Ω per output, features 50 V continuous isolation (type-tested to 2200 VDC for 60 s), and is housed in an open-type enclosure that mounts on DIN rail via POINT I/O terminal bases 1734-TB, -TBS, -TB3, or -TB3S. Status LEDs include a module status LED, network status LED, and per-channel output status LEDs, which flash red on open-wire or field-power loss. The module is factory-calibrated and should be installed in keyswitch position 4 on the POINT I/O base.
Typical uses include driving modulating control valves, VFD analog inputs, dampers, louvers, and retransmitting analog process values to panel meters, recorders, or signal converters.
